From the links in Scotland, to the links at Bandon Dunes

Sorry for the absence from blogging but this year has been the toughest test of character for me ever. Things dont always go the way you hope or plan. So I am due to go back to Q school and get my card back. Then play a couple of events in SA and hopefully then before the end of the year get my wrist looked at so we can go on and kick butt again. I have done a lot of work this year on my fitness and strength to get more power and be more consistent but my left side (shoulder, elbow and wrist) has taken a beating to support my wrist and that's the reason I need to get it looked at.

The last few weeks have been great with my Mom and younger boet, JP, joining us in San antonio for the week and then my mom went on to Jackson, Mississippi to support me for another week on tour. We had fun although my golf was not that great. Thanks for your support MA, JP and the Redds in San Antonio.

From Mississippi we went to one of my favourite places in the world, St Andrews Scotland. Here I played well at the Dunhill Links Championship except for the last nine holes! Thanks to my fan club in Scotland who follows me all over the Globe and braved the elements to support me regardless. You guys are awesome and I can't ask for better friends. Sunday's back nine was made a little less painful when my fellow competitor, Mr Jim Crane, offered Phillipa and I a lift back to Houston, where he also lives, on his citation 10 jet. Onboard too, was none other than actor Bill Murray - wow, what a privilege and definately the way to travel! So watch out in the next few years as that has now become one of my goals to get one of those babies!

That experience definately helped us get to the Frys.com in Las Vegas quicker and assisted us in getting over our jetlag easier and play well. Phil was up to the challenge in Vegas and came out of retirement to get back on the bag. It was her birthday and yet she still wanted to caddy. She did a great job despite us having a week long birthday to celebrate her milestone birthday. As always, we had a great time in Las Vegas and if not for the 17th hole on Sunday, it would have been a really great week!

From Vegas, I got my second private plane experience on Mr Gary Maclean's plane when I, along with a handful of other fellow Pro's and sponsor's, flew to the exclusive Bandon Dunes golf course in Oregon for the annual Brian Henninger's Fireside Chat Pro am. Wow what a place! Thanks Brian for including me and you guys did a great job looking after us. If you ever want to play links golf in the USA, that's the place! It is about 4 hours South of Portland, Oregon.

Well that's what I have been doing the last few weeks. As you may have noticed, not too much golf info as I don't want to bore you with the same news. I am enjoying a month off before I head to second stage of Tour School in Panama City, Florida from 16-19 November. I am currently in Dubai with Phil visiting her sister and family. This is an unbelievable place and certainly a place worth visiting at some stage in a person's life.

It is then back to the USA and time to put my head down and work hard on my game with my coach, Mark Immelman, so that I am completely prepared for 2nd stage of Tour School.

Until next time, over and out from Dubai
