It's so good to be re-united with my Titleist 'handbag' after a couple of months off. We've had a great 2 week break in South Africa, when I say break I mean no tournament golf, Tjaart still practiced and played social golf with friends.....which is important of course, he has to enjoy this crazy game every now and then! We were able to spend some time at the coast (KZN) and a few days in Clarens with friends, it's always good for both of us to spend time with family and friends, food for the soul.
We now find ourselves back in Asia for a couple of Asian Tour events, this week we're in Singapore, a first for me. I have a couple of reasons to be excited, apart from it being a new place to explore a little, I'm able to catch up with an old friend of mine who lives here, we haven't seen each other for 10 years! I'm also back 'on the bag' which I really do enjoy, if I'm walking the course I'd much rather be 'inside the ropes' as then I really get a feel for what's happening. We played our practice round this morning with fellow S-Africans, J'be and Adilson, which is always 'lekker' as it makes for a relaxing, fun 'at-work' 18 holes. A big challenge this week is going to be the weather - it's hot and humid - and it just seems to get progressively warmer as the day goes on. Nothing we can't cope with though! Key word of the week is HYDRATE! The course this week has some of the hugest greens ever, I suppose being a resort golf course they do need to cater for amateur players... the challenge for the pro's will be their iron/wedge play to get close to the pin..
We're staying on-site this week which makes life a lot easier, it means no bus rides to and from the course before and after the round.. now it's just a chip-and-a-putt to our room! We'll definitely be out and about to explore though, we've already been to the local mall for a bite to eat and I'm sure there'll be lots more outings to try the local cuisine.
Keep your eyes on the leaderboard as that's where we're aiming to be...
