After serious consultation with a wrist specialist, Tjaart is scheduled, this Thursday, 30 November 2006, to undergo a scope on his left wrist. The specialist feels that the discomfort felt by Tjaart, but not clearly indicated on the MRI or other tests done on Tjaart last week, warrants a scope to try and ascertain the problem area in Tjaart's wrist.
With that said, at the time that the scope is being performed, should the specialist find anything that causes concern or may hinder Tjaart's golf career down the line, he will repair the necessary injured area.
At this point, with only a scope scheduled, it appears Tjaart will be out of action until February. Should the specialist find any areas of concern during the procedure and further surgery is required, Tjaart could be out of action until March.
Check back after the procedure on Thursday to see how things went. In the meantime, Tjaart is enjoying some time in Houston and is looking forward to heading back to South Africa around mid December.
At this point, Tjaart's first tournament scheduled for 2007, all going according to plan with the procedure on Thursday, will be the Jacob's Creek Open Championship in Adelaide, Australia from 12-18 February 2007 on the Nationwide Tour.
