A scope on Tjaart's left wrist today found a tear in Tjaart's TFC (Triangular Fibro-Cartilage), on the outer side of his left wrist. The procedure was performed by Dr Andy Thompson and assisted by Dr Dave Brown. The tear in the TFC was trimmed which should bring to an end the discomfort Tjaart has been experiencing over the past two years.
Tjaart will be in a soft cast for 2-3 weeks after which time he will be able to begin with physio therapy after he has had a one month check up with the doctors. Once his motion has been regained, he will begin with a strengthening physical therapy programme. It is predicted at this stage that Tjaart will be ready to start swinging a club in 6-8 weeks time.
Tjaart is planning to head home to South Africa in the next week to enjoy some time in South Africa before he heads back to the USA for his one month check up with the surgeons and begin with his physical therapy programme.
