Whooping it up in Houston!

Thursday, 10 May, 2007

Once again the US Open Qualifier proved to be Tjaart's nemisis. Tjaart felt that he struck the ball well but was disappointed in how his putter let him down. While a score of +2 ended Tjaart in a tied for 15th position, only the top 8 scores made it through to the Regional Qualifier. The Open Championship remains Tjaart's Major of choice and with the International Qualifier for The Open taking place in June, Tjaart will be sure to be focusing on that qualifier right now.

Tjaart and friends Tjaart did not let the disappointment of missing the Local Qualifier get him down and no sooner had he got off the plane in Houston from St Louis, than he was at Syla's house where there was a gathering of the clan to welcome Andre to Houston. In true South African style, a braai was enjoyed by all before the party moved to the Wild West country bar in South Houston. It was not only a culture shock for Andre, but for us current Houston residents as we watched the locals line dance and Texas two step around the dance floor. But a good time was had by all. Tjaart will be departing on Sunday for next weeks tournament in Greenville, South Carolina. But until then, he will be enjoying his off time at home in Houston with friends. Check back for more news next week once Tjaart is back on Tour.
